Spinach is a nutrient powerhouse rich in iron, calcium, and vitamins A, C, and K. The benefits of spinach for babies are endless, and these spinach cutlets are a great way to introduce them to this superfood without any fuss.

Ingredients:  

  • Spinach leaves (roughly chopped) ½  cup 
  • 2 Boiled Potatoes (mashed) 
  • Chana dal (boiled and mashed) 2 tbsp 
  • Ginger (grated) ½ tsp 
  • Salt to taste 
  • Ghee 1 tbsp 
  • Besan 1 tbsp 

Method:

  • Pressure cook the potatoes for 2 whistles. Cool and mash them.
  • Soak the chana dal for about an hour until it expands in size. Pressure cook for two whistles and set aside to cool.
  • In a kadai place the spinach leaves with a tbsp of water and wilt it. Once the leaves are wilted, drain the excess water if any, and let it cool. Once cooled, grind to a fine paste.
  • Add the boiled mashed chana dal to the mashed potato mix. Mix in the spinach puree. 
  • Add salt and grated ginger, mix well.
  • Add besan and knead the mash. Check if you can shape the mash with your hand.
  • If it is too sticky, add more besan.
  • Shape them into small tikkis.
  • Heat ghee in a griddle. Once hot, place the tikkis on the griddle. Cook on both sides till the outside is crispy.

Ingredients: 

  • Jamun fruit (pureed) ¼ cup 
  • Thick Yoghurt 1 cup 
  • Powdered Almonds 1 tbsp 
  • Honey 1 tsp 

Method:

  • Wash the Jamun thoroughly, remove the seeds, and mash them to form a smooth pulp.
  • Mix the honey with yoghurt and set it aside. 
  • Take a couple of glass jars or glasses and add a spoonful of the jamun puree, so that it covers the entire bottom.
  • Add a spoonful of yoghurt over the jamun puree and lightly tap the glass on your hand to settle the glass. 
  • Sprinkle the crushed almonds over the curd.
  • Repeat the steps 3-5 until your jar is filled.
  • Serve chilled or at room temperature.

The purple cabbage stir fry is quick to prepare and can be customized with a variety of baby-friendly ingredients.  

Ingredients: 

  • Purple Cabbage (finely chopped) 1 cup  
  • Urad dal ½ tsp 
  • Mustard seeds ¼ tsp 
  • Curry leaves 4-5 
  • Ghee 1tbsp 
  • Chana dal ½ tsp 
  • Grated coconut 1 tbsp 
  • Salt to taste 

Method:

  • Chop the cabbage and wash it thoroughly under running water.
  • Heat ghee in a kadai, add chana dal and urad dal. Once they turn golden brown and smell toasty, add mustard and let it splutter. Add the curry leaves.
  • Add in the cabbage and salt. Mix well and cover the kadai.
  • Cook on medium flame until the cabbage is cooked and the color changes slightly.
  • Switch off the gas and garnish with grated coconut.
